Abstract
Duodenal lipomas are uncommon benign tumors, and most are asymptomatic. However, large tumors cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, obstruction and bleeding. Such cases necessitate surgical resection. We experienced a 63-year-old man who was presented with melena and abdominal pain. He was diagnosed as duodenal lipoma on endoscopic ultrasonogrphy and Abdomen CT, and he was also diagnosed as calculous cholecystits on Abdomen CT. The tumor was laparoscopically resected using Endo GIA (30 mm, 3.5 mm). The excised specimen, measuring 2¡¿2 cm, was covered by a normal duodenal mucosa. Pathologic finding included a tumor that was composed of mature adipose tissue in the submucosa, which coincided with a diagnosis of lipoma. Lipoma is a benign tumor; and if possible, minimally invasive endoscopic procedure should be selected for treatment. If endoscopic procedure is not possible, laparoscopic resection may be a safe and feasible treatment.
